Living In A Snowed-In, Disease-Ridden House
Ugh. No, really. Is it just me, or does it seem like the various forms of “the crud” are not only getting worse, but they are coming at us faster and faster?
Someone in the house has been sick since before Christmas. At least one person at a time, but usually 2-3. And the colds are getting progressively worse. Mo has missed at least 1 day of school each week for the past 4, Nani has missed almost as many, and they are both home again today – and running fevers. It’s the Nani-girl’s birthday tomorrow, and she won’t be going to school… again. That means no cupcakes for the class, no birthday celebration with her friends at school. Bummer!
On top of that, we keep getting snowed on! Yes, it is March 9th, and I am watching a blizzard fall from the sky outside my window… in a place that doesn’t usually see more that one snow day per winter. I’ve lost count of the show storms we have had this season! I mean Spring had sprung! Flowers were blooming, trees were budding… now I’m just hoping that the snow doesn’t kill them.
I have also been caught by the crud… skimming the surface mostly until last weekend. Then I caught one that laid me out cold. I made it through singing last Sunday (barely) and came home and slept. That was a week ago… and I still have it. Yes, I went to the Dr, they gave me stuff for the double ear infections (the meds are gone, the ears aren’t clear yet) but it’s a virus, so there isn’t anything else they can do. I haven’t been able to hear for 6-7 days now. THAT is frustrating. Carrying on a normal conversation is out of the question… I won’t be able to hear. I can’t hear the girls (somewhat of a blessing!) or Eric, and I can’t hear the music that is blaring out of the speakers… not well enough to recognize the words anyway. Then there is the coughing… I woke up at 3:30 yesterday morning & coughed about every 3-5 minutes until I finally fell back to sleep around 8:15. Poor Eric, he has to attempt to sleep next to that!
I HATE being sick.
Well, that’s my whine for the day. Anybody found the cure for the common cold yet? Please try… I want to hear again!

One of those days…
Yesterday was one of those days… you know, the days that you never even manage to find the time to eat something, and end up rushing out of the house to make it to an appointment only to realize when you get there that you forgot part of what you needed to bring.
Oy… I hate those days.
Why does it seem that almost every Wednesday is like that? Yesterday was one of the worst though…
Tuesday nights are quite often a late night for our family – we have home group that night, and don’t often get home before 10 (yes, I know, Bad Mommy Award time). Because of this, none of the girls in the house want to get out of bed on time Wednesday morning… including me. So, the morning is rushed – fix & eat breakfast, fix lunch for the girls, get them out the door (hopefully) in time for the bus, then get to work. Play catch-up from being gone all day Tuesday (staff meeting, errands, home group, etc), update everything, etc.
Before I know it, it’s 12:45 and I have not eaten breakfast!
Then comes the realization that it’s already 12:00 (or 1:30) and I haven’t gotten the music together for practice. Ugh.
Or eaten lunch.
Or been out of my chair since 8:30 am.
If I behave myself at that moment, I go eat something. Some days it’s just a(nother) smoothie, some days a Trio or Lara bar. Occasionally I actually make a sandwich! Not yesterday though.
Then it’s back to work. Make sure the song list is ready (it often isn’t) and everything is posted to planning center so the team can download it if needed. Oops! I didn’t schedule anyone yet? Oy. That should have been done Monday! Quickly schedule everyone so they get the reminder for practice that evening and have a concept of the songs we will be doing (if they look – hey, some do!)
Ok, pull the charts (it’s usually around 2:45 by this point). I’m missing a chart? How does this happen? We just USED it! Ok, find the one remaining chart and copy it (this usually requires me typing it in fresh because it’s one I haven’t done that with yet). There went another 45 minutes – it has to be formatted to fit on one page you know. And I’m just using text edit (no MS Word here). Copy, paste, move, copy, paste… undo, put it back where it was, start over… got it!
Eek, it’s 3:35! I have to get the girls in … 5 minutes!
Quick, pack everything up – grab all the music (waiting for the printer to finish… still waiting…) make a snack for the girls (and me – I not have eaten yet at all), grab my water, grab my purse… oops, no contacts in my eyes yet. Is the printer done yet? Come ON!!!!! Forget it, I have enough copies – they can share.
It’s now 3:45, the girls were outside the school waiting for me 5 minutes ago, and it takes me 5-7 minutes to get there… PLEASE let there still be a couple cars in the line waiting! Please let me not be the LAST car!
Ok… got the girls. Now to feed them (yep, forgot the snacks). Is it McD’s (nasty stuff there) or Safeway’s deli… Oh yeah, I haven’t eaten lunch yet. Better go Safeway. Ooooh, starbucks has tea lattes now… Yum! (pretty shiny distraction) oh yeah, the girls need something too. Yay! Anne is working today – say hi, chat while she makes the drinks. Ok girls, walk quickly now – I need to unlock the church! Yes, you can have a corn dog, yes you can have chicken. Eat it now before we get back to the car. I don’t want you eating in my car. Yes, you have time, she’s making me a sandwich. EAT!!!
Walk faster – the car is outside… we need to go…
Oy. The gate is locked already. So glad I’m wearing heels (heels & mud are such a good combination, don’t you think?)
The gate is open, the door is unlocked, the alarm turned off, everything has been carried in. Sit and eat.
Set out the charts for the team… I forgot it?!?!?!?!? Crud. No time to run home, double crud. I forgot my computer, triple crud – can’t just copy it off the screen. What are all of the words again? Chris, HELP! Can you figure out the chords for this song? I forgot it.
“Are we waiting on Jennifer?” “What’s the hold up tonight?”
I’m writing as fast as I can legibly… really, I am . Sorry to keep you waiting.
Practice officially starts… 5:41pm. Supposed to start at 5:00 pm.
The chart is WRONG????? Ugh. Sorry again. That one is wrong too? I thought I just copied it. Oops, I guess I missed HALF OF THE CHORUS!!! sorry… my bad.
that was my day.
No breakfast, no lunch, not even any water all day. Brain dead.
I did get dinner in the crock pot though.
Ever have one of those days?

A Historic Day
History was made today. Whether you want to recognize Barak Obama as our president or not, he is. Whether you voted for him or not, he has been inaugurated as the President of the United States of America.
The American public has showed a true change. A black man was voted in as our president, a man under the age of 50, a man who publicly at least professes to believe in Jesus Christ. Given the current attitude towards “Evangelical Christians” in our country, this is a pretty big deal. Add in the fact that a high percentage of those same “Evangelicals” did NOT vote for him makes it even more amazing.
As of today or country will embark on a new kind of change. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, we don’t know what his first 100 days in office will bring… all we do know is that God has placed the man in his position.
As I spoke with a variety of people today, I was struck by the different attitudes that I encountered. I took my girls to school today because I was heading to a meeting anyway. Every classroom in their school was playing the inauguration (and I agree that they should have witnessed it!) and I spoke with a few teachers. As I left I stopped by the store, the post office, and a few other places. I talked to people.
There were expressions of hope. There were expressions of despair. There was nonchalance, there was numbness.
I just have one answer to all of these emotions…
The Bible says this:
“The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD;
he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases.” Prov 21:1
” God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne.” Ps 47:8
” For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.” Col 1:16
“14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine;
I have understanding and power.
15 By me kings reign
and rulers make laws that are just;
16 by me princes govern,
and all nobles who rule on earth.” Prov 8:14-16
That tells me that Barak Obama is the president of the United States of America because God chose him for the job. God has put him in place – whether we agree or not – and will use him to bring about His perfect will.
We need to pray for our new president.
We need to pray for the man that God has chosen to rule our country. We need to pray that God will guide and direct him. We need to pray that he will listen to the leading and guidance of God. We need to pray that Congress will be lead by God’s Spirit. We need to pray that God will use His people to bring about a revival within these borders the likes of which have never been seen.
Put simply, we need to pray.
The bible also says that “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16
What can this country do in the name of God if we will but pray? If we will but turn our lives over to God wholly and completely.
I’m so tired of listening to Christians complaining about who was voted in as our president. I’m tired of the despair that I am hearing. We should be praising God that we still have the freedom to worship Him! That we can gather together and talk about God! That we can tell others about Him without fear of being thrown in jail or killed!
We live in a country that is free to worship whatever God or god it’s people want to. Yes, that does mean that people will be worshiping some other entity from time to time, but it also means that we have the responsibility to show them the one true God!
Yes, change is coming. Change is here. Let us embrace the changes that God is wanting to bring rather that being angry or full of despair because we didn’t get our way. Since when is our way better than God’s? Get over yourselves. Wake up and praise God that you have air to breath, food to eat, and people to tell about Him!
Perhaps if we shared the hope of the majority of our nation, we could more easily show them God – the hope of the world.

Our Economy Is Getting Flushed Away
Yes, I know, everyone is dealing with the “Current Economic Crisis” and we are ALL getting tired of hearing about it. Well folks, it’s about to get worse.
On Feb 10, 2009 the new CPSIA will go into effect. What is this new regulation you ask? It will bring about the end for so many small businesses in America.
The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act makes it illegal to sell ANYTHING geared towards the under age 12 set. ANYTHING.
For those of us that shoe at second-hand stores, guess what stores will no longer be legal to operate?
For those that sell their kids old clothing, toys and books to make some extra cash, guess what you can be thrown into jail for. Oh, and get a whopping $100,000 fine PER OFFENCE.
For those of us who like being able to buy locally, handmade, sustainably made toys and clothing for our kids, sorry, those are now illegal – or cost so much that no one can afford them anymore.
Yes, it looks like it is just targeting toy manufacturers in China, but who are the real targets of this regulation?
- Second-Hand stores
- Work At Home Moms
- Craft Fair Vendors
- Small Toy Manufacturers
- Low- and mid-income families that cannot afford to buy retail
- everyone who has to buy ANYTHING for their kids, because the cost will be going up
- Employees of small and mid-sized businesses that manufacture or sell children’s goods – they will most likely be out of a job
- Every tax-paying American – just who do you think will now be supporting all of the people who will now be out of a job? Paying for the debt created by all of the businesses going bankrupt?
- The Chinese people. Yes, this is an odd one, but the working hours are already way past what should be allowable, the conditions are horrific, and they aren’t paid enough to ever get ahead. Does anyone really think that forcing China to produce MORE will help this?
Now, who will be benefiting from these new regulations?
- China – that is the only place anything will be able to be manufactured anywhere near affordably – and the products still won’t pass the necessary testing because of the next group
- Large Corporations – they make so much that these new tests will simply be absorbed and the cost passed along to you – the consumer. But they won’t really care about safety – eventually they will find a way to allow their manufacturers to go back to the less expensive way of doing things.
Once again our government is making the rich get more by stealing it from the poor – and anyone who isn’t already rich! The “Middle Class” that we enjoy in this country is slowly being erased. We are heading back to a system of the few wealthy controlling the masses of poor, ill-cared for people.
For those of you that think this will not affect you, wake up and smell the load of crap they are feeding you! EVERY American will be affected. The poor will no longer be able to find products to clothe their kids cheaply, the middle class will be put out of business – thereby becoming the poor – and every taxpayer will foot the bill.
Socialism, here we come.
Please, I beg you, take the 5 minutes to send a letter to your Congressmen and -women, to your Senators, to the CPSA, to everyone you know! There is a poll up at Change.org where you can vote to get the word out about issues to our new President-Elect Obama. You can visit and cast your vote on this issue at:
http://www.change.org/ideas/view/save_handmade_toys_from_the_cpsia
Yes, it calls out handmade toys, but this is so much more far-reaching than just toys.
And for those that think I’m just chasing after the dollar, please believe me that I care about the safety of all of our kids. I have 2 of my own, and at this time I try very hard to feed them healthy, wholesome foods that actually are grown rather than coming out of a box. I try to make sure that their clothes are modest and will last. I prefer to get them toys that have as little plastic in them as possible. I prefer to get them outside into nature as often as possible. We don’t have TV in our house. We don’t buy clothes, school supplies or toys that are emblazoned with Hannah Montana and other brands that are being forced down the throats of the American public.
These alternative choices will soon be gone. No more sustainability manufactured handmade toys, no more going to the 2nd-hand shop for back-to-school shopping and being able to trade in old clothes for new ones so it doesn’t cost $200 in August to put clothes on their backs that fit.
Please, take a few moments to get informed. Spread the word.
Even if you don’t have kids, you will still be paying the price for idiotic legislation. Even if you are financially ahead of the game, you will still be paying for it.
The “Current Economic Crisis” is fixing to get a whole lot more “crisis-y” We are heading for a recession the likes of which have only been seen during the Great Depression, but it will soon be illegal to use many of the things that helped Americans survive the last one. Oh, and there are a whole lot more people alive now than there were then.
America has always been known as the land of the free, but we are slowly trading in those freedoms that we so cherished out of fear and giving those with the money more and more control over what we can and can’t do. 9/11 made us trade in freedoms in transportation, the lead in toys from China will be trading in our freedoms of choice. Yes, we need to protect our kids, but forcing them to only have the option of mass-produced junk that will fill our landfills even faster is not the answer.
Now that I’ve once again thrown this out there, I will step off my soap-box.
Oh, and I’m adding this in the the Thrifty Green Thursday carnival, because it affects so much of what we do to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Have a nice day.

Christmas and all it’s Trappings
The Christmas season is upon us, and with it comes heaps of “extras” that never had anything to do with the traditional holiday. Prepare yourself – I may come across a bit offensive here…
I am a Christian – I have never tried to hide that fact – and as such, I believe that Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ (whether he was actually born in December or September being set aside). This time of year can be very frustrating for me, as I see this wonderful celebration being tainted by consumerism, over-spending, the idol of self, and a fat man in a red suit.
Yes, I said it, I don’t like santa clause. I think that lying to your children year after year is setting yourself up for a confrontation. Why is it suddenly OK to tell a lie? Do we really expect our kids to understand that it’s “not really a lie” when yes, it actually is. Why the double standard?
Let’s make it more challenging, shall we? I don’t like the idea of SC, but my mom… well, she was adamant that the girls believe in jolly ol’ st. nick. Every year she gets them some over the top gift “from Santa” and force feeds them the line that santa is real. Have I told her that I don’t want to tell them this? yes. Did it matter? Apparently not.
My youngest has not believed for a few years now – she asked me and I refused to lie to her. I put the ball back into her court though – she asked if he was real, and I asked her what she thought. After thinking about it for a minute or so she decided that the whole idea was a little too out there. She didn’t believe in Santa – after all (in her words) Christmas is about Jesus, isn’t it? Praise God! Yes, I told her, Christmas is about Jesus. She was concerned for her big sister though – M believes, oh yes, she believes! After all, Grandma told her that it’s true, so it must be.
Yes, I’ve heard all of the arguments… “it’s just a fun thing to do” and “do you really want your kids being the ones at school telling the other kids he’s not real?” (um… yes?) “It doesn’t hurt anything” and my personal fav “but YOU believed in Santa, why are you taking that away from them?” ugh.
Let’s tackle these comments, shall we?
It’s Just A Fun Thing To Do: yes, it’s big fun, and it creates little tyrants that are so focused on themselves that they can’t see the world around them. They live life looking in a mirror rather than looking out at the world around them. They get so focused on “Me, me me” that they have no compassion for their neighbor. That sounds like loads of fun. Not.
Oh, and let’s not forget the year that some kid (possibly mine) tells them that their parents have been lying to them all of these years. “yes, of course you can believe everything I tell you!” “But you told me Santa was real (and the tooth fairy, easter bunny, etc)” “Oh, but that was just for fun! I wasn’t really lying to you!” Hmmm… sounds like a double standard to me. The whole “do what I say, not what I do.” Nice.
Being the parent of the bubble bursters… honestly, I don’t mind that one a bit. My youngest is rather known for speaking her mind… I think her teachers expect it these days. In case you’re wondering, we don’t celebrate halloween either, and she will tell them why every year. And no, I haven’t gotten a phone call yet – from parents or teachers.
It Doesn’t Hurt Anything: well, other than their trust in you to always tell them the truth, and teaching them that it’s OK to put something else in front of the truth of Jesus. Oh, and teaches them that it’s OK to lie if it makes someone else happy. Our society has replaced the truth of Jesus birth with the lie of a fat man in a suit that brings more junk into our homes. We have taken humility out of Christmas and replaced it with sacrifices to te idol of self. No, it doesn’t hurt anything at all, does it.
Then we come to the age old “but YOU got to have the fun of Santa, why are you depriving your children of that same joy?” Yes, this one is usually from the grandparents who don’t see any issue with the fat guy. After all, they promoted the lie, and if you don’t continue that “tradition” you are saying that they did something wrong. Yes, I was raised with Santa. Yes, my mom LOVES the idea of santa – no, she really loves it. I still had unwrapped presents laid out under the tree when I was 18. Seriously. I honestly don’t know why she loves it so much, but she is the one that refuses to give up believing well past the bitter end. I love her dearly, and I am thankful for her, but I just don’t get it. And when I voiced my opposition to the whole santa thing, I was in deep trouble. She stopped arguing with me & started in on my dear husband. Of course to keep the peace he tried to convince me to “let her have her fun”, which I (regretfully) eventually did. So, we let Grandma tell the stories of santa, we let Grandma give the gifts “from santa” and we let Grandma perpetuate the myth. I didn’t back it, but I allowed it. If my girls asked me if santa was real, I tried to let them talk it out – I still have not told my oldest “no dear, Grandma lied to you all these years, santa is not real” because I don’t want to be the one to have that conversation. I don’t want to blame Grandma for it, after all, I allowed her to do it in my house.
This year though, I just can’t do it. I can’t let the lie perpetuate. This year we are going back to basics, we are celebrating Christmas – the real Christmas. We are celebrating the birth of our Savior, the miracle that is the incarnation of Jesus Christ, the Messiah. Yes, we will still exchange gifts, but we will remember that we give gifts to remember the ultimate gift that was given for us – God’s only Son in exchange for our wretched lives. I want my girls to look at the world through the filter of Jesus, not get stuck looking in a mirror at themselves. I want them to see the needs around them, and focus on how to help others and give generously rather than get caught up in the self-absorption that has taken over Christmas. No, there will not be any shiny, expensive toys under the tree. There will be some books, some clothes that they need, and something that they have said that they really want, but there will not be an over-abundance. We just can’t afford it – economically or spiritually.
When M asked me this year if santa was real, I asked her if she really thought that he was. I have to admit, Grandma made it pretty convincing – there were even sleigh bells one year while they were taking a bath, and fun unwrapped presents were under the tree when they got out. She wants to believe, because Grandma told her. She wants to believe because all of her friends at school believe. This is something that I have to figure out, something that we will have to talk about. I don’t want to tell her that Grandma has been lying to her, but I’m unsure how to go about explaining it to her without her coming to that conclusion. She is still undecided. She’s 8 now, and is starting to realize that it just doesn’t add up, but she’s not ready to give up on the idea.
My biggest fear though isn’t that she will realize that someone she loves deeply lied to her. No, my biggest fear is that she will somehow come to believe that the true magic of Christmas – the birth of Jesus – is also something that someone made up. That the birth of Jesus will be one of those “childish things” that gets put aside as she grows up. No fairy tale is worth that.
So, if you are considering how to deal with the whole issue of Kris Kringle, make sure that you prayerfully look at all sides of it. Ask God what He would have you do with your family. And once you have decided, don’t let anyone else go against that choice with your kids – not even family. Your kids eternity could be part of the bargain.

The World Is Watching
Nov. 4 is fast approaching, and the candidates are making their last-ditch efforts to get your vote. Many states have opened up early voting to help ease the congestion at the polls, and mail in voting is in full swing.
Have you voted yet?
If not, I would like to toss a couple of thoughts out to you… in the interest of being informed.
1 – think of small business owners when you vote. If these small business owners are taxed too much, they will go under, resulting in a loss of jobs for more and more people. More people out of a job means more people losing their homes, means the banking industry will continue to fail, means that the gov’t will think they have to continue to step in to take care of them.
2 – think of military families whose husbands, wives, sons and daughters are serving oversees. Who is going to take care of them the best? Who will give the the support that they need to do their job to the best of their ability? The better they can do their jobs, the sooner they can all come home.
3 – think of our children. Our schools are becoming a battle ground for them between parents and special interest groups. Yes, public school is still the only option for many families (unfortunately) and many of us have no idea what our kids are really being taught. Unless we have the ability to be able to be there helping their teachers, we may never see some of the books that are being read to them, some of the groups that are brought in to talk to them.
4 – think of the thousands of unborn babies that are killed each day. What was their potential? One could have had the cure for cancer or AIDS in their yet-undeveloped brain. America has become the country that sacrifices its young on the alter of self… “I am more important than anything else” has become our mantra.
5 – look at the voting records for each candidate on the ballot – both federal and state – and see how their voting lines up with what is spewing out of their mouths. It doesn’t always on either side.
6 – keep in mind that our next president will have the power to bring about change – and both have promised to do so. The question is this: which change is the best for our children’s futures? Do we draw closer to a socialist run government? Do we give up more of our rights because our government is exchanging them for more handouts? 9/11 came, and we volunteered up many of our freedoms – some that we still may not realize we gave up. Who knows if we will ever get them back.
7 – America is still a superpower, though we have lost much of our former glory and respect. These are tough economic times, yes. We are all feeling the pinch of over-spending whether on a personal level or a governmental level. Both candidates have pans to fix this, but if we as citizens can get back to the basics that made this country great, we will pull out of this. WE have this power. Every individual person in this country can play their part. We don’t need the government to take care of us – that is not what our country was founded on. It wasn’t “America the country iof I deserve it” but rather “America, the land of hope, promise and the possibility that if you work hard enough, anything is possible.”
Our grandparents and their grandparents understood that. They understood the beauty of a hard day’s work, understood that hard work can enable you to do something more. Our generation seems to think that everyone owes us something, that we deserve it just because. We haven’t learned that we need to earn certain things. I for one don’t want to trade my “inalienable rights” in so that the government can give away free money to people who haven’t paid into the system through hard work.
Part of the economic plan right now is to bail out the people who bought houses that they couldn’t afford, banking on the future. Those people who have sub-prime loans that are folding are getting a bail out – my question is this: What about those of us who did it right? Those of us who worked to get our credit where it needed to be, saved up and have an A-paper loan, possibly at the edge of what we can afford, but within our means? Why aren’t WE getting any help? They could buy some of us out, and we might be able to sell our homes for a profit and go out there and help the economy once again by doing it right.
This presidential election is arguably one of the most important elections our country has had in decades, and the world is watching. The future of our country will be based on the decisions that we make as a collective body. The man who becomes our next president will have the ability to guide the rudder of the most powerful country in the world, and it’s anyone’s guess where we may end up. Some outcomes are more than a little frightening.
This election has been a very hard one for many voters – myself included. I have spent many hours, nay DAYS, reading their stands on the issues, their voting records, and the special interest groups that are helping to support them. I have approached this election with some fear, with a lot of prayer and a lot of soul searching. I know which issues became the “make or breaks” for me, and who I have placed my vote for, do you?
I’m not typing this to tell you who to vote for – that is between you and your conscience. Just keep in mind that if you don’t vote, you have no right to gripe when you don’t like who was elected. All I am asking is that you make an informed decision. Look at the issues that are important to the future of this great country, that are important to the future of our children, and base your vote on that. The past is the past, and there is nothing that we can do to change that. All we have is the here and now, and we are responsible for what we do with it.
Vote. It’s your civic duty. Make your voice heard.

Bikini Baristas Abound
Yes, I live near the coffee capital of Seattle, and there are drive thru coffee stands everywhere… one could argue that there are too many drive thru coffee stands in fact.
I suspect that is the reason for the newest trend in coffee – the bikini barista. It seems that this trend is spreading like a noxious weed through these parts. Everywhere you turn there is a coffee stand advertising “Bikini Barista Friday!” or “Now Hiring Bikini Baristas”
Now, I like a good cop of joe as much as the next gal, but I don’t really see a need to make our young women strip down to nearly nothing in order to serve it! I’m personally surprised that there hasn’t been a sexual harassment suit filed, or a poor girl getting part of her body burnt from steam or coffee spilling on delicate skin.
Seriously people… does your coffee need to be delivered by someone wearing next to nothing? Does it really make it taste better? And quite honestly… some people have no business wearing a bikini, not if they are supposed to make something look more appetizing!
So our society has come to the next step in making *women* into objects for men to lust after, nothing more. Yes, I highlighted women, as most of these baristas are in high school, or just out of it. Do we really need to teach our young women that in order to make a buck they have to take their clothes off?
That is the rant for today. My area is now filled with coffee stands that I WILL NOT be going to any longer. Instead of bringing in my business, they have forced me to seek my occasional 24 oz. iced breve with 1 packet of raw sugar elsewhere…
I guess it is true that sex sells, unfortunately.

Computer Rant
Please excuse this short rant, but after 2 weeks of fighting with sites that are NOT Mac/Safari friendly, I’m just getting fed up!
Obviously, I have a Mac – which I absolutely LOVE, thank you very much! HOWEVER… as less than 10% of computer users are using a computer worth buying, the rest of the world seems to think that their websites and programs don’t need to make sure that this small number of computer users can use the products that they are offering!
THIS IS SO VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!
Just because I don’t want to deal with all of the virus crap and the *issues* that windows has is not a reason to be left out!
All this to make a small plea – software designers, website designers, anyone having anything to do with designing products available over the web, please, please, PLEASE learn that the number of Mac users is growing daily! Just because our computers work better than yours is not a reason to exclude us!
Thank you, I feel better now ;~)
Have a fabulous day! The rain has stopped, and the sun is shining for a brief moment, so I need to go plant my sweet peas! Oh, nevermind, the sun is gone.
I guess I need to go sew instead!
Later…
