Amy,

I can get what you are saying... I have been to churches where to raise your hands would do nothing but garner stares rfom all directions. In that instance, I generally moved to the back of the church where fewer people would see me & be "disturbed" because there are times that to NOT raise my hands in surrender to God would just be too difficult. We also attended a church (for 1 Sunday) that didn't allow you to stand at all during the service. I just couldn't handle that... our old church sat down about halfway through the songs and that bugged me - but I was on the worship team, so I got to stand the whole time ;)

It's a fine line between surrendering everything to God and not becoming a stumbling block for someone else... and no none wants to feel that they are the object of stares and whispers behind their back. I would perhaps try sitting closer to the back and see if you feel a bit more freedom... you never know, you might start a new trend!

Good luck.

Hi, my name is *Crumbs on my Floor* and I am a wanna be hand raiser in church. Here's the thing though. Everyone will look at me and probably think..."oh, why do they do that hand raising thing, makes me so uncomfortable"

See what I mean, someone will think something of me, so I don't do it. Who wants to be uncomfortable in church, right?

Really, I want to raise my hands and open up to the Lord. When the Spirit moves you, you should right?

Thanks so much for this post. It made me take a moment to think about HIM and not me.

BTW: I did raise my hands and almost jump for joy at a Third Day concert--they rock! Besides everyone else was doing it. :o)

Take care,
Amy
