Sunday Setlist 2-15-09

Well, I can tell you what the setlist was supposed to look, but not how it came out, as I took the weekend off!

The order for FRF this weekend was as follows:

  • Everlasting God
  • You’re Worthy Of My Praise
  • Mighty To Save
  • Agnus Dei
  • Kids Message
  • Every Move I Make
  • Message
  • Communion Time
  • You Gave Your Life Away – sung while elements are passed out
  • taking of Communion
  • Doxology

If anyone was there, please feel free to chime in on how it went.

We are visiting Eric’s family this weekend (taking advantage of the 3 day weekend) and we attended Puyallup Foursquare Silver Creek this morning.  It was nice.

I’d love to tell you what songs they did, but I only barely even recognized the last one… they were all good though, and the congregation was really entering in.  It was kind of nice to get to just be part of the corporate worship instead of leading it, but I really missed being with our team.

Next weekend we have 2 services again – our morning service and our monthly communion service at 6 pm.  I plan to have lots more to report then!

Have a great week everyone,
Jennifer

Oh, this is part of Fred McKinon’s Sunday Setlist… Check it out at FredMcKinnon.com!

It probably doesn’t come across right to say that it was a mixed joy to get to colead today’s set. I learned a while back that the best callings are the ones that terrify the snot out of you. From that standpoint, it was a near perfect calling. And thus the mixed joy — God kept me from looking like I felt (thank you!) and in retrospect, I feel genuinely blessed for having gotten to do it, but I went in thinking I was leading two of the songs (Mighty to Save and You Gave Your Life Away). This began panic attacks early last week. By Sunday morning, I was sort of calmed down.

So then as I get there early to get the projector set up and reassemble some of the AV equipment (there was a wedding on Saturday so the set had to be struck), Pastor Chris says he’s got the flu and he left a message for Art (our other male voice, who was already up for leading Every Move I Make) to see if he’d lead the rest. I did a creditable job of not panicking. I was actually rather proud of myself.

Half an hour later, we discover that Art is out with the flu. Our bassist is out with the flu. Our drummer is also out. At this point, I’m beginning to feel like my first foray into Children’s Ministry, where it was me (who only liked my own children) and another woman and 15 preschoolers. God is so good.

He really is. The congregation came prepared to worship. They really didn’t need a lot of leading. They were clearly glad to be there, together, worshipping God in spirit and truth. I could sing off key and He would still be praised.

So… Pastor Chris is my hero because he still led Everlasting God, You Are Worthy Of My Praise and Agnus Dei despite not feeling well, and Taya added her voice to Mighty To Save, so in the end, it had a very unplugged feel in a good way.

Since Art was out, I took lead on the kid’s song, Every Move I Make, which made doing the motions next to impossible. So Vicki stepped up to the plate and did her best on no notice. I didn’t really notice how much the kids were into it, but there were some HUGE grins on adult faces. That is so encouraging!

Overall, it was a real blessing to get to step into your shoes for a weekend, Jen. I am glad that it worked out the way it did (you may _not_ quote me on that :p), though I do hope Art, Eric, and Chris are feeling better.
