The Camping Trip…
Well, the good news is that I got the garlic etc bread baked & it turned out delicious! The pumpkin cookies became cookie crumbles by the end of the weekend, and I didn’t make it to the brownies (unfortunately). But don’t be too sad, the quinoa salad was a hit!
The camping trip was a success! We ended up getting the picnic area at the campground because the group site had been double booked – translation, we got a large, grassy meadow to pitch tents on instead of sand & gravel & dirt. Yippee!
There was a TON of fabulous food – something to please every palate – and the fellowship was just as wonderful. We got to introduce some old friends to some new friends (although neither of our pastors & their families were able to make it, unfortunately) and the kids thoroughly enjoyed playing in the river & the lake we hiked in to. All in all it was a lovely weekend!
And if Collette ever offers to fix you biscuits & gravy, be there early! The woman has the “gravy touch”! Yes, ia twinge of jealousy here… I just can’t seem to get sausage gravy right. In retrospect, this is a good thing, or else I would have substantially more “body clutter” hanging around! Yes, I love biscuits & sausage gravy.
The smores were great, the canasta matches were brutally fun, and the kids had a blast walking the dogs and chasing each other around the meadow & in the water. If you missed it, you truly missed out! Next time perhaps… but I can’t guarantee fresh baked dinner rolls and blueberry cobbler will make their appearance.
I just hope the canasta cards recover from the dampness…
